FAQs

How often should my chimney be swept?

For most homes, chimneys should be swept at least once a year.

  • Wood-burning stoves: once a year (twice if used heavily)

  • Open fires: twice a year

  • Smokeless fuel: once a year

  • Gas fires: once a year (recommended)

Regular sweeping reduces the risk of chimney fires and carbon monoxide problems.

Are you fully qualified and insured?

Yes. Phil Craske Chimney Sweep is NACS Trained assessment member (National Association of Chimney Sweeps) and fully insured for your peace of mind. A certificate of sweeping is provided after every job if required for insurance or stove manufacturers.

Will there be a lot of mess?

No. Modern chimney sweeping is clean and controlled (or should be). I use professional equipment, dust sheets, and industrial vacuum systems to ensure your home is left clean and tidy.
